<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>ELIGIBILITY<\/strong><\/h3>\nStudents who meet the following eligibility requirements are admitted to the competition:<\/b><\/p>\n\n- \n
Hold, or plan to obtain (as of the date the scholarship is awarded) :<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
A degree in science or engineering from an accredited academic institution<\/p>\n
OR<\/p>\n
An undergraduate degree (or equivalent) from a recognized university<\/p>\n
\n- Register (free of charge) and make an oral presentation at the QSPP Virtual Annual Conference to be held in the summer of 2024. You will automatically become a member of QSPP for the year 2024-2025 for free!<\/li>\n
- Applicants who already have an award from organizations such as FRQNT or NSERC are eligible;<\/li>\n
- The study and research project must be directly related to <\/span>plant protection<\/b> (plant pathology, nematology, entomology or weed science);<\/span><\/li>\n
- Be enrolled full-time in a graduate program (Master’s or PhD) at a Quebec university, or have the firm intention of being enrolled at the time of the award;<\/li>\n
- Submit his\/her file<\/b>, before <\/span>April 1st, 2024 at midnight<\/b>, to the Society’s Scholarship Committee.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>
NOMINATION<\/h3>\n
Nomination is made by completing an electronic form. The following information will be requested:<\/b><\/p>\n\n- A current <\/span>curriculum vitae<\/b><\/i> including: academic training, research involvement and work experience, a list of publications and papers, fellowships and awards, and community involvement;<\/span><\/li>\n
- Proof of admission or registration<\/b> in a graduate program (Master’s or Doctorate) at a Quebec university. <\/span><\/li>\n
- A <\/span>summary of the research project<\/b> including the medium-term impact of the expected results of the research (maximum <\/span>350 words<\/b>);<\/span><\/li>\n
- The<\/span> contact information<\/b> (including email address) <\/span>of a referee<\/b>. To avoid any conflict of interest, the link between the referee and the applicant must be professional (current or past). This referee should be open and allowed to complete a 10-15 minute online questionnaire between June 4th and June 18th 2023, addressing the applicant’s research capabilities and professional qualities;<\/span><\/li>\n
- An <\/span>original text<\/b> from the applicant on his\/her motivations to undertake and pursue his\/her research project, to complete graduate studies in plant protection and to have an impact on the development of plant protection in the medium and or long term (maximum <\/span>850 words<\/b>);<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>
SELECTION CRITERIA<\/h3>\n
The evaluation takes into account:<\/p>\n
\n- the research dossier (20% of the total) ;<\/li>\n
- the curriculum vitae and the evaluation by the referee for the research potential, the abilities to carry out the project and the involvement in the community (40% of the total);<\/li>\n
- the original text and the impact of the research in the field of plant protection (40% of total).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
The evaluation of the application must reach a score above a threshold of 60% in order to be selected.<\/p>\n<\/div>
<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>SELECTION OF THE RECIPIENT<\/h3>\n
A panel of plant protection experts will evaluate the candidates based on the criteria of research potential and aptitude, the evaluation by the referee and the candidate’s involvement. Members of the Society’s Scholarship Committee will evaluate the original papers. The decision will be made by the Scholarship Committee prior to the 2024 QSPP Conference in the summer, where the recipient of the award will be announced and the presentation of the award will be celebrated. <\/b><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>SUBMISSION OF APPLICATIONS<\/h3>\n
